Production Services
Subterranean Watchtower Studios offers professional-quality recording, mixing, and mastering. Editing and restoration (for old, and poor recordings) is also available.
Recording
The first step of any recording process is physically capturing the performance. This is called the recording, or tracking phase. Subterranean Watchtower uses the finest microphones and equipment to capture your performances with the best quality possible.
Mixing
After your tracks are recorded, the next step is mixing. Mixing is the process of making every element of the song/production sound great, and blend well together. It is a creative skill that takes years and years to develop. Subterranean Watchtower Studios has all the best equipment, software, knowledge, and experience to make your recordings shine through mixing. Whether you recorded here, at another studio, or even in your bedroom, we can dramatically improve the overall tonal quality of your song, demo, EP, or album through the mixing process.
Mastering
The final step in audio production is mastering. This is the final level of polish that is applied to finalize your songs, and make an album flow well. Mastering is done to a stereo file, so it is more limited than the mix process. However, dramatic improvements and fixes can still be made. Do you have a song that sounds pretty good, but just needs something to make it sound more professional? This is where mastering comes in, and we're here to help. Mastering is also an important step for compilations, where most of the tracks will have been recorded and mixed at different studios, and have different volumes. Remastering is also possible for productions completed elsewhere that didn't turn out the way you wanted them.
Editing
Do you have a recording of a performance that was not perfect? Maybe the tempo fluctuated too much, or you'd simply like the drummer to sound more spot-on. Editing can help.
Reamping
Do you have DI (direct inject) guitar tracks, but lack access to a great sounding amp, or the recording equipment to capture a great tone? You can send your DI tracks here and have them reamped and recorded through a fantastic guitar rig. Reamping is the process of running the signal recorded directly from your guitar pickups into an amplifier. A DI track run through a reamp box, and into an amp sounds exactly as if you were playing the guitar in the room.
Restoration
Do you have an old recording that contains a bunch of noise/hiss, scratchiness, clicks/pops, or other problems? We can help eliminate or reduce these issues. Or maybe you have an old recording that can't be redone, but you'd like it to sound better. Restoration and mastering can help.

Guidelines for Internet-Based/Remote Productions
If you want the best possible result for your project, please follow these guidelines.
For mastering, please send full quality, 24 bit, or 32 bit WAV files.
For mixing, we need a raw, full-quality audio tracks for each instrument/element in the song. This means Guitar 1, Guitar 2, Bass Drum, Tom 1, Floor Tom, Overhead Left, Overhead Right, Bass DI, Bass Amp, etc. All of these elements should be separate files. 24-bit wav files are preferred. Your file format may depend on how the project was recorded. If you need help exporting your recordings for the mixing process, please contact us.
When you are exporting your tracks, please take off/bypass all effects, and put your faders/gain at unity (i.e. 0/default level). Make sure your audio is not clipping, or running through any effects on the master buss. Please make sure all your files are exported from the same exact point in time (e.g. the beginning of the project) to prevent timing issues when we load the files into our DAW to begin work.
If you need a place to upload your tracks, put them all in a zip file, and upload them to wetransfer.com and send the link to SubterraneanWatchtower@gmail.com
